Wow.
It's been so long since I posted here.
Here's some good news for bookworms: I will be doing balloon-twisting at Borders (Wheelock Place) tomorrow at 4pm, and at Borders (Parkway Parade) tomorrow at 6pm.
See you there!

Back From Malacca
Did less shows that usual over the weekend. I was in Malacca with my colleagues, just unwinding and having fun at shopping centres which looked exactly like shopping centres in Singapore. Globalisation means that everywhere in the world looks the same.. I think.
Looking forward to doing more shows this week!
Signing off,
Farid

The Goat Balloon
This is another balloon sculpture that I learned from Paul. I modified it slightly from the original design by using 160Q for the horns. It's a simple balloon - basically a horse with horns.
I found out that this is one of those designs that can take people by surprise because most of the time, they think it can't be done.
A typical conversation would go like this:
Funky Freddie: What would you like me to make?
Parent of kid: Puppy can?
Funky Freddie: Sure. What colour?
Parent of kid: Eh no, wait! I want you to make a... GOAT!
Funky Freddie: Sure. What colour?
Parent of kid: Hah?! You can do goat ah?
Funky Freddie: Sure. What colour?
It's amazing how people think a goat cannot be represented by a configuration of 260Q latex balloons. Anything can be represented by a configuration of latex balloons. It just takes a little bit of imagination.
Till the next time we meet,
Farid

Why Do I Do Magic Shows?
Looks like Im going to have a busy weekend. Booked for about 4 shows, two of which are back to back. Some people ask me why I do magic when I already have a full-time job. There are two big reasons - firstly, I've been doing magic longer than social work (which is my full-time job), and I don't feel like quitting magic anytime soon.
Secondly, magic brings additional joy to my life. I get extra income, make new friends, widen my networking circles, but most importantly, I have something to do on my weekends. Keeps me active physically and mentally.
So if you would like to contribute to my physical health as well as my sanity, book me for a show today! The number to call is 92218582. (end of marketing effort)
Till the next time we meet, have a great weekend ahead!

The Cow Balloon
Hi all,
This is the Cow Balloon that I learned from Paul. It is a combination of three balloons. :)

3 Days of Balloon Twisting at Singapore Discovery Centre
Hi all,
Finally finished my 3-day gig at Singapore Discovery Centre. I was tasked to give away sculptures of Chinese Zodiac Animals.
This was indeed an interesting challenge for me. I had my friend Paul, who is an AMAZING balloon twister, to teach me me some new stuff to prepare for the gig.
Some of the sculptures I learnt were Cow, Dragon, Goat and Rooster. Hopefully, I will post up pictures of these sculptures later on. For now, back to my bed for some well-deserved viewings of BattleStar Galactica.
Peace out,
Farid

Balloon Twisting at Singapore Discovery Centre
Hi all,
I've been busy this Chinese New Year. Twisting balloons for kids (and sometimes parents) at the Singapore Discovery Centre!
I've been engaged to twist the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, from the tiny Rat all the way to the pretty large Dragon!
It's been a cool gig - I've still got one more day to go tomorrow. Maybe I will see you there.
Till then,
Farid

Yet another happy customer!
Here's what they've got to say:
"Though he started slow and with smaller tricks, they only got better as his act went on. The "card drawing" and table trick made people gasp and lean forward in their seats, mouths open in awe. Shufi is an entertaining young magician who mixes magic and mystery with light-hearted comedy. A job well-done!"
